About
Susan Rainbow, Reflexologist
Dip Reflex (VTCT) PRM MGHT
My background is in supporting people with long term heath conditions, mental health, addiction, bereavement, and specific learning difficulties. I worked holistically to address barriers to employment, education, training, and support learning. I have qualifications in counselling, families, parenting and community health and have worked within statutory bodies, charities, colleges, schools, health care and the private sector. I was also employed in funding, having written successful funding bids for social projects which aimed to improve people’s lives.
Having acquired a relapsing remitting long term illness in my thirties, I was led to complementary health to both mitigate and manage my condition. My interest in holistic therapies grew as a result and I trained and became involved in energy healing and postural therapies, as well as massage. Family, a full-time job and studying unfortunately meant that I moved out of that area, until now.
Career changes at certain life point shifts are usual nowadays and I am no exception. Reflexology was an area that I had always wanted to train in and now it is my vocation. It is a wonderful therapy to help to treat stress, has been shown to be effective in helping with symptoms of perimenopause and is used in diabetes, cancer, addiction, and MS clinics to help to manage these conditions. The latest research is showing its efficacy in dealing with the effects of trauma and I hope to be able to offer neuro-reflexology treatments in the future, as well as facial reflexology. Having completed my diploma through Grantham College this year, in January 2023 I will be starting my clinical reflexology training in advanced reflexology techniques including fertility, maternity, oncology and life limiting conditions as well as advanced foot mapping and foot reading.
I currently offer integrated therapies that help to promote wellbeing across the seven areas of the Wellness Wheel. This is a wellness model that has seven dimensions just like the rainbow: emotional, intellectual, physical, social, environmental, financial, and spiritual. All these areas are interconnected and important to a balanced and healthy lifestyle for everyone, irrespective of gender, background, or beliefs.
I believe in access to complementary therapies for all, I am therefore happy and able to offer reduced rates for reflexology to those on a restricted income currently. Please message me quoting Open Heart if this is something that you are interested in.
Healing comes from within - by balancing the body-mind-soul we gain a new sense of wellbeing,. In a sense, you become your own healer. My role is to provide the space, dedication and professionalism to get you there. With a strong focus on continuing professional development and lifelong learning, my therapy list is continually updated.
I am a full member of both the Professional Reflexology Association and The Guild of Holistic Therapists and am fully insured to carry out treatments, as well as being bound by their Codes of Ethics and Professional Practice. In addition, I am also an Associate Member of the British Holistic Medical Association, a full member of the International Association of Therapists and hold limited professional membership of the (International Menopause Society). IMS. I am LGBTQ+ friendly as well as disability aware.
As I use only organic products in my treatments, I am pleased to be an Independent Consultant for Neals Yard Organics, trained to their standards to carry out facial treatments.
